I will do something different today.

30/04/2008

Hm, let’s see. American Idol is set to be telecast in 30 minutes (for us in Singapore with cable), so I will do something a little bit different.

It’s Neil Diamond week! And I will go on record and say that I absolutely admire Neil Diamond!

Second, Jason picked Forever in Blue Jeans! I am happy! (Shit, as much as I like Brooke, WHY IS SHE SINGING I AM… I SAID ):!)

I watched the second half, was bored out of my wits, maybe because I was cramming my history / chemistry stuff in school. I want a second opinion. From me. Duh.

IDOL MADE HISTORY TODAY LALA.

I will blog as I watch on TV. 8D

Hay thar.

Adhjskad. I was reading spoilers and sahdjasdal! I DO NOT WANT JASON TO SING MEMORY.

Oh no, oh no, oh no. I know Memory is some kickass popular song, and yes Jason had to draw for his song, implying POPULAR, but OHMYGOD NO PLEASE WORST SONG CHOICE EVER. ):

But! It is not confirmed yet. I can wait. Rawr. DO NOT SING MEMORY. DON’T WANT. BAD. I am not in the right mind to actually think of something correct to say about the ‘badness’ of all this, but my sister actually picked a pretty decent song for him, and it’s nice, and apparently popular, so ahdjkasdas NO MEMORY.

This is the whole point of the entry. I had fanart but NOOO MEMORY ): seems to have taken over me.

This is ludicrous.

I have Chemistry Practical Skill A tomorrow, and I really should not be wasting any of my energy talking about this, but seeing that Castro is my Season 7 favorite Idol, I have to say something.

Uh. Does it really matter if he has a girlfriend? A million other stars out there have like a million and one flings but uh, why is this such a big deal? Shit does this mean I’m barred from drawing slashy stuff in the future ): But really, people out there are acting younger than I am! :O

For the record, I’m happy for him. :) I don’t exactly have a crush on Jason Castro despite the fangirling moments I have over him, and that I can’t seem to stop talking about him. :D But I do that all the time for my other favorite idols!

Dinner, but I have other things to write about.

I forgot.

17/04/2008

I watched American Idol, I did, I didn’t forget. But I was complaining about the lack of songs I actually recognized so yea, I didn’t really know what to write. :)

Results are already out, and I’m now waiting for it to air, 1.75 hours more! I have studio recordings in arm, I have made my decision that uh, I did not really like this recording of Jason’s. His voice is to die for, of course, but I am not fond of the song. Perhaps by tonight it will have grown on me. David Cook’s performance was a million times better than the studio recording, but studio recording is still good. Studio recording hands down goes to David Archuleta, because I love ‘When You Believe’. This is biasedness talking, so it should not be taken too seriously.

Performances last night… David Cook pwned everyone. By far. But David A. started it off gorgeously. Jason’s was a bit flat after Cook’s performance, but hey, it’s gorgeous too. Oh, I think there’s a good part in the studio recording. The end. Yea. I’m clearly listening to it right now.

Yeah. I have a makeup test tomorrow, so I better get my arse down to studying. ):

I need to upgrade WordPress!

12/04/2008

Not this website, but my writing one. I have totally slacked off doing so, because it is a pain in the arse to upgrade, and the internet has not been extremely stable. Not to mention that it takes more than 10 minutes and I don’t like that. D: The upgrade itself is painless, it’s the uploading of the new files. I… should just stop complaining and do so now. I really like the 2.5 interface.

… The slowness of the deletion of old files annoys me greatly. And if you were wondering, no I did not have fantastico when I installed wordpress then. My host added that handy function about 5 months into my hosting.

On to the main issue of this blog.

I WANT FIC.

Specifically Michael Johns / Jason Castro fic. The angstier the better. The lower the rating the better. I just need fic.

No, the real issue. That is secondary and very much appreciated if it could be fulfilled.

David Cook sounds absolutely stunning in the studio recording of Shout to the Lord. David Archuleta has the most number of solos. And due to my inability to recognize the female idol’s voices, I think Carly has the most number of solos. Or maybe KLC. I don’t know. But I am glad I got it. Michael Johns sounds really wonderful as well. Like I said, I like his voice more than Cook’s. That’s also biasness talking.

And I am a failure at being a Castro fan because I have only thus far identified ONE phrase that he sang. ONE. Oh my god. My failure is astounding. Maybe I should just blast the song into my already deaf ears from We Will Rock You a week back. You know what, I think I’ll just go ahead and do so. … Right, I found one more in the first chorus. :) But he really has very few. I am sad. They keep on pimping the same people!

First one:
The guy after David Cook in the first stanza of the chorus.

Second one:
The guy after Michael Johns in the repeat verse. I think it’s Michael Johns. It sounds like MIchael Johns. I am convinced it is Michael Johns. Cook has a higher voice. And he got a lot of the backup sounds. But MJ sounded hot too. Oh, MJ. ):

Jason sounds really good, if I identified him correctly.

Speaking of Shout to the Lord, they played it for the after communion hymn in church today. Yeah!

And! Michael John’s Dream On is now number 2 on my top played American Idol songs. Aha.

I have made a decision.

12/04/2008

Michael Johns voice is much better than that of David Cook.

Michael Johns therefore has probably the best voice in the whole of American Idol.

Unfortunately, he’s gone.

This stinks.

11/04/2008

I almost have no incentive left to watch American Idol. Non-American or not! Pwah.

Elimination today was horrible. There is no other word to describe it. It was disgusting. It is still disgusting. Even Jason and David C. thought so! Their expressions make me want to cry.

Just goes to show that anything is going to happen. But why? He did a bazillion better jobs than a few other people on the show. Sigh.

I’ll go watch the results show in a bit and probably end up crying.

They just kicked out my 2nd favorite contestent ever.

Top 8 Studio Recordings!

10/04/2008

Actually, the one recording I desperately want to get my hands on now is Idols Give Back – Shout to the Lord. But blah, my friend can’t get it, why? She’s out of money. ;_; I’ll just hang around with my performance recording until she gets her paycheck. Speaking of which, I really should be returning her the $8 I owe her too.

I’m still getting used to the Firefox 3 interface, I’m really not used to it. /random

Anyway, I was really really really really pleased with David Cook’s version of Innocent! It’s almost a copy of the original, but heck, I don’t care, and it’s brilliant. Of course, this might be due to my biasedness after listening to his wonderful backup in Shout to the Lord, but really, it was good. Really good. The lacklustre performance he gave did no justice to how he brought forth the studio recording. Even if you felt like that song was a total letdown, you should give the studio recording a go, because you might just change your mind after that. :) For me, I already adored his performance (really!) and this just served to bring my worship for David Cook a thousand notches higher.

Michael John’s Dream On was not bad. He has a really good recording voice, so it was a blast listening to it, especially when it’s one of my favorite original Aerosmith songs. :D David Archuleta was in his element, and Angels was absolutely wonderfully done. I forsee myself buying his album whether he wins or not.

Now, back to Jason Castro.

First, let me put my point forth and say that I loved his performance version of Somewhere Over the Rainbow. His recording was perhaps even more fantastic that what Simon Cowell said of his performance. It was all Jason Castro brilliance, and I will kill to purchase an album by him. I can listen to his voice the whole day. It’s in one word, captivating. Maybe not to fans of his voice, but to me, it is all forms of wonderful. They could have cut down on the backup voices (they were kind of annoying after a bit), but apart from that, it’s just barely below Travelin’ Thru on my list of favorite Jason Castro songs ever. :)

That done, let me go back and listen to Shout to the Lord on loop. :D

On Jason Castro’s recordings

10/04/2008

Alright, so I am a staunch supporter of Jason Castro (amongst all the guys, even though I love all of them), and despite the disability of Singaporeans to purchase anything from Itunes, I have been bugging a US friend to do my purchasing for me.

As such, my grabby hands have already clatched onto most of Jason’s studio recordings. I usually rip the audio off his performances to tide me over until my friend emails me his songs.

Actually, I enjoy listening to his performance audios more, because they are more… heartwarming, as compared to his studio versions. And they’re shorter. I like short songs, a 4plus minute song already puts me off 80% of the time.

Alright, so most listened to Jason Castro Song (including performances audio):

1. Travelin’ Thru
2. Somewhere Over The Rainbow~performance only
3. Hallelujah~performance
4. Fragile
5. If I Fell
6. Michelle

Actually, I get more and more fond of Jason’s performances. I don’t really need him to be 100% consistent throughout the whole competition, because really, who is? But it’s really nice to see him improving. And I’m always looking forward to his performances every week (they get me through shitty school).

Travelin’ Thru is trouncing every other song of his, however, and I really believe that that is his favorite performance of mine to date. :D

Speaking of which, I raped my paypal account and donated my last $7 to the Dreadhead’s group donation. I know it got through, but because I don’t have an AI account (I’m not American!), I hope she realized that it’s for the Charity thingy. :)

This makes me happy!

Why I’m usually in a good mood on Wednesdays

9/04/2008

That is, if I can help it, which is possible, and highly probable 99% of the time. And we can all attribute that fact to Sheryl being able to come home and watch American Idol, where tons of her favorite guys are performing.

I just have an issue. Why is Jason Castro always in the first half? He’s had wonderful performances (much more than Ramielle did, and despite the fact that I love her voice, Brooke White), and I have yet to see him make an appearance in the second half of the finalists since the semifinals. What? If next week he gets thrown to the front again I will throw a tantrum, because he deserves to have a spot near the ‘pimp’ spot at least once! D:!

Anyway, tonight’s performance was, might I say, absolutely stunning. I always had IZ (there is no way I will actually attempt to spell his name, I need not embarass myself) version of ‘Somewhere Over The Rainbow’ except that I did not know he sang it. oO. It had always existed as a string of numbers in my music folder, aha. But Jason’s rendition of this wonderful version had me stunned speechless / wordless / soundless. It was beyond fantastic. And yes, Jason is back! The person who wowed everyone with his priceless version of Hallelujah. The ukelele added a special finish to his performance, and now I actually want to buy one.

That said, other favorite performances of the night included Michael John’s Dream On by Aerosmith (here’s where we pull in Sheryl’s worship for Aerosmith), David Archuleta’s Angels by Robbie Williams (absolutely in his area tonight. When I saw his song choice I was already believing that he will perform miracles with it), and for some weird reason I have yet to discover, Kristy Lee Cook with Anyway. It wasn’t great, but it was good, which goes to say very much because I really do not like the sound of her, for the past few weeks at least.

Another performance that I really liked, and even my sister the fan did not, was David Cook’s Innocent. Maybe it’s because I adore Our Lady Peace (Canadian bands ftw!), and that Cook’s voice (to me) suited the song. I’m not sure about everyone else, but that’s what I feel, and I’m pleased. It was not astounding like his previous weeks, but it’s good, and I will contribute to his sales by bugging my friend to order it for me. :D

As for the rest, uh, I can’t remember what they were. Or I can, but I can’t, if that made any sense. I will go back and watch Jason’s performance on loop, because hell, I really loved it, much more than Fragile / Travelin’ Thru / Hallelujah (miracle!) and his voice is something wonderful to listen to after a crappy day at school. <3 I shall pray for him and hope that he sticks around for a few more weeks. He makes watching American Idol quite ever so wonderful.
