Elisabeth; Tokyo, Japan; 13 August 130pm

15/08/2010

Right, so this is the first musical that I’ve been to in Japan that does not star Urai Kenji. I didn’t even think it was possible! But, there was a new cast, and I was incredibly excited for the new cast, and have already spent a good amount of time ranting on my LJ about it, so here is my official review.

Cast list:

Der Tod (Death): Shirota Yuu
Elisabeth: Asami Hikaru
Franz Joseph: Ishikawa Zen
Lucheni: Takahashi Masahiro
Rudolf: Mario Tashiro
Sophie: Kotobuki Hizuru

Doubles were for Elisabeth, Ludovika, Sophie and Elisabeth. Triples were Death and Rudolf. But this year, due to insane schedules by a lot of the actors (Urai Kenji, for one, he was in a stage show during the August run), they fixed certain schedules for different characters. The 3 Rudolfs had different months to go on, for example.

Lovely center seats, and basically the only two new characters I saw were effectively Shirota Yuu and Mario Tashiro.

Tanz der Vampire; Tokyo, Japan; July 26th 130pm

3/08/2009

In late 2008 I discovered the recast of the Japanese production of Tanz der Vampire. With Urai Kenji reprising his role as Alfred, I had to get tickets to watch. Despite the scare of H1N1, I found myself back at the Imperial Theater, where I watched Elisabeth in 2008.

Cast List

This year, the double cast was only for Sara and Alfred.

Count Krolock: Yamaguchi Yuichiro
Sarah: Chinen Rina
Professor Abronsius: Ishikawa Zen
Alfred: Urai Kenji
Herbert: Yoshino Keigo
Koukol: Komada Hajime

Three of the names, Yamaguchi, Ishikawa and Urai, might seem familiar, but that’s because I watched them as Death, Franz Joseph and Rudolf in Elisabeth in 2008.

Also, I had extremely good seats: 1st floor, aisle seat, first row of the final middle section. Tanz saw the actors using the audience area for various scenes, so I had a good look at most of them.

Elisabeth in Japan!

29/10/2008

Cast schedule from official website.

18th December 2008
Elisabeth: Suzukaze Mayo
Death: Takeda Shinji
Rudolf: Irei Kanata

I’m really looking forward to this pair Death/Rudolf pair despite what I’ve heard about Takeda’s singing and height. And I’ve heard him sing before. However, when I watched the Japanese preview, all their inability to sing (oh my god, Irei’s voice is so weak!) was completely thrown out of the window when I watched Takeda with Irei. It was ridonkulous!

It does help that Takeda Shinji is insanely gorgeous.

17th December 2008
Elisabeth: Asami Hikaru
Death: Yamaguchi Yuuchirou
Rudolf: Urai Kenji

I’m officially in love with Urai’s Rudolf. It does help that Rudolf is also my favorite character in the whole musical (oh yes I know, LACK OF STAGE TIME D:). He opened his mouth, and it was love. Although, he completely sucked in SeraMyu. Suck. Absolute suck.

Yamaguchi well, shit his voice is so fantastic *plays cast recording on loop*, and that’s all I have to say!

If they give me a repeat cast for any of these three characters, I will do some killing on that day. >.>

Rest of the cast is the same for both days, so I don’t have much to talk about. SO EXCITING!!
